As you might have noticed, I have expand my blog width from 500 pixels to 700. I am completely clueless how to change my current default wordpress theme to a custom one, anyone would point me in the right direction would be helpful! Knowing that current LCD standard resolution statistic shown that there are less and lesser people are using 1024 x 768 resolution and below, so I better up the amp yo!. I have updated some of my older post to view larger photos, I’ll update the rest later. The thought of changing the theme’s width again, would be a butt loads cumbersome. This is it guys, all the resource I have for the moment, cant pay a darn shiz even for my flickr account extensions. I’ll have to say Hi to my own domain and website for another year I guess.

My older sister Aira and Dzul was engaged yesterday! Congratulation guys! :) here are those photos so far that I’ve done processed. I’ll post the later bunch within these few days alright sis! Thanks to Azim lending me my used-to favorite lens of all time Sigma 10-20 :D. I sort of struggled a bit changing lenses back and forth, until 2 hours into the ceremony I just remembered I left my old Nikon D70s in my car’s trunk ever since I got my D90 :P Poor thing. Years ago since I was a child, its that time of the year again HARI RAYA! which means balik kampung anddddd? long hours road trip. I didnt have fancy gameboys, reading materials whatsoever and all I had was my imagination. I listened to the radio and starts to fantasize visually what goes with the music. Its a frustrating to see something awesome when I cant share it :(

The first assignment is more on the concept. The assignment strictly has to be shot at the college’s 6th floor. The video wasnt complete though :/. Ignore the annoying lines on the right side of the videos though, some rendering errors I dont know how to solve that one. Thanks to M for brainstorming the earlier concept of running randomness in the first place! then the concept grew as we thought about utilizing all of us :) Owh and thanks for watching! :D

Ever since I got my D90 this blog becoming or like  a multimedia blog :P Nobody wants to fill in my professionalism into good use ( even I offered them for free ), so I’ve been doing video instead :) This is Ask Me Again performed LIVE at Sunway Pyramid Mall. I fell in love with the band ( NUMBER ONE FAN WEH! ), I’ve never liked live musics before until I met these fellas.  Top things up, the lead singer of the band is a friend of mine, I didnt know goofy personalities makes good song writer HAHHA! as usual lah, you guys were awesome-lah yesterday! :D

I dont want to give my own a college a bad press, but they’re asking for it. I thought they were the ones who taught us how to respect other people’s work by NOT STEALING. Yet, they still taking advantage from their students. Yes, I do mind for the photo you guys cropped and stole from me. Why cant they just ask for permission and credit me like the rest of the world do?. No one would help me solve the problem and I’ve been asking everywhere who were in charge of this. I want it to be taken down or better, pay me so I can make you a higher resolution legit copy. Come on, be professional lah.

45 years later…

These are screenshots from the short PSA video I made for my final Videography assignment.  The video was made entirely by me. I cant upload the pre-rendered clip yet because the whole friggin thing is already 2.6gb freshly rendered by Adobe After Effects to ensure video quality. The aim of this PSA is to encourage people to opt for organ donation by introducing the lego bricks concept throughout the video. I hope because of the short due date it wont end up as a rushed work and fall short on expectations, this is the reason why I post this up for my fellow group mates. The picture only the first half of the video and YES it is in BNW to illustrate the nostalgia during the old years, while fading through 45 years of time with colors and such on the second half.

Total runtime is about 2 mins.

Sometimes I ask myself, whats the difference between me and other photographers. The difference between professionals and amateurs. Is it because people who takes good photograph know how to make their photos more appealing to the mass or just because the were plain gifted. If you can compare my work from the day I began taking photograph until today, why the leap? some people are born with it, some have to earn it. I think in my opinion, the key to take good photograph is to read and see lots and lots of references, I admit I do try to copy other people ( yess, I know you’re smirking right about now haha ) no matter how much you try to copy, name it from techniques to processing it wont be exactly the same, from that experience being the copycat you’ll refine it yourself your own way, its always going to be your style. If people start copying what you do, that’s a good sign you’re doing good. Getting used to seeing good images will eventually propel you forward with the “this shit is not good enough, must work harder” mentality. This is the biggest case yet, what are the similarities from all those well-known photographers in their picture? None! They’re styles are totally different from each other and that is their key to success by being UNIQUE! Bear that in mind, why follow other people while you can make your own, I’ll take Crocs ( the sandles yeah :P ) as an example, people dont call them sandles they call it Crocs! the same on how you define ( im pretty sure you’ve heard of this one too many ) “Dave Hill”. See? They’re branding they’re styles!. I am not trying contradicting myself here, I said copy them in order to receive experience and use that knowledge to your advantage. Sadly, that’s the problem with our local ( including me ) photographers, taking good photographs doesn’t ensure you to make a living out of it unfortunately.

The problem doesn’t only exist in Malaysia, same goes to every country around the world. How to make a living out of photography. How do you charge something that might not cost as much money, but some might cost a whole lot of money?. How are you going to avoid from falling too short, or going too far?. The million dollar question, a question I’ve searching from the day I started thinking I’m going to take this seriously. One of my lecturer who was a fresh grad from SEGi College, recognize my work and told me ” kau dah pandai tangkap gambar, asal tak terus kerja je? ” I told him “I dont expect much learning photography from the course either the reason why I went to college because I at least have a solid network after I graduate.” People that matters, then he told me his story when he first graduated and went looking for jobs, he had gone everywhere even with his papers no one would take him. Now he’s doing part-time lecturing, while working in a retail store in OU. Why is that? Portfolio, our portfolio is the most important thing when you’re venturing in this industry, having a good social network helps a lot too that is why first impressions and a good attitude also contributes your chances of getting jobs. Selling pictures are like selling sand in the middle of the desert, you have to convince them in any way possible.  It’s sad to see, most of my juniors doesn’t even have a clue what gonna hit them when they finish their studies. They have no passion, not even worried about what lies ahead. There is no such thing as easy money.

Taking good photographs just isn’t enough nowadays.

Longing for an update, I’ll show you what’s been causing my twitching eyes restless for 2 days straight. This 17 seconds clip is a sneak peak of my assignment 3 Videography class. The confusion relived when I started to use Adobe After Effects, and I thought Photoshop was difficult :P. We had to come up with a 2 minutes trailer for a movie that didnt even exist. So Eizat, our Director & Scriptwriter & Actor ( whey so short of people mah, plus its a non-profitable trailer :P) came up with the cheesiest Malay love drama ever.

Another session with Bibo again, this time I didnt know where the location until I got up to M’s house, PUTRAJAYA!. Mmkay, well maybe I got to add a little bit of finess into it, PUTRAJAYAAAAA! ¯\(°_o)/¯ more like it :P. I dont mind much because Im running on freeeeee petrol! :D Thanks much to M, for filling it up full tank after taking us around KL the other day, you’re so awesome :D. I got to meet Raja too and he sure bring lots of toys to keep me occupied throughout the whole shoot. While Bibo was busy doing his thanggggg, Me ( most likely to annoy ) was like WEHEHH M SINI AKU NAK SHOOT :D and was like WEHH SAUFI SINIII and stuffs :P I carrying around Raja’s cute softbox back and forth sini sana OMG this thing is awesome! definitely gonna be in my to-shop list :D We goof-off A LOT so I think I better post the behind-teh-scene’ish pictahz now.

Owh! Me and M are gonna do a fuckin’ awesome aerial helicopter shoot this Tuesday! Hope it wont get delayed like last time due to bad weather forecast :(
