I was bored at home today, so I’d figure I had to do something for my Videography assignment. I didnt have any proper video camera for the test so I grabbed my Nokia 5300 ( yes the old slider express music shiz ) and record the samples in 3GP format ( yes the one thats widely use for Malay porn, a fact there :P ). We have to replicate a scene from the movie Dark Knight, where the truck flippin’ scene ITS GONNA BE AWESHUME! I was planning to use Final Cut Pro for the effects part, but it seems like working it in windows is so much faster and easier for me so I used Adobe Premiere instead. I had to do the gun flare effects when the Joker shoots randomly at Batman, I got my video flare and sound effects samples from the net and viola :D EFFIN HELL I LAUGHED LIKE SHIT, but hey at least it works. :P

Yes! I’ve been working on another ring flash :P This time its made out from cardboards, lots and lots of celotapes, aluminum foils and a tracing paper. Budget wise for this thing, a huge cardboard RM2.00, celotapes RM2.90, aluminum foil is around RM6.00 and the tracing paper is RM0.50. Total damages done *calculating* around RM12*kaching!*, still many leftovers materials to make another one or two, so its wise to build them with friends :).
The idea came from one of my History Photography class, when my lecturer showed how fashion photography started and one of the photographers used a ringflash off-camera in broad day light. It gives out a a very distintive light quality, very diffused light and very directional ( depending on the relation the size of the light to the subject ). I’ve always wanted to use a Beauty Dish which is near impossible to find which can be fitted onto a portable flash unit. I’d figure the Beauty Dish and the Ringflash design looks the same ( the only main difference is that the Beauty Dish was used off-camera ) I took the time to build this one which can be fitted onto my SB-600 or my SB-28 Nikon speedlights and use it off-camera, e.g mount it on a tripod or lightstand. Here’s the result from the DIY off-camera ring flash / beauty dish whatever! :P

I got bored so I made up a simple B&W version of Farez Khan who is a member of DANGERDISKO. Im starting to hone my B&W skills for a another profile shoot for my awesome lecturer Anderson Ee. He asked me if I could do him a favor by taking a personal shoot for him in B&W. Im honored to take the favor! :D I was in a way a huge fan of him, just because he isnt like any other people I’ve met. How awesome? do you guys watch House? he’s awesome as House :P we used to call him Dr. House! literally :P and another one I might be tagging along Mdon for another band shoot after raya! OWH SHIZZZ I CANT WAIT FER THAT KJSDNFLKSDFNADSJFSNKFNSDF! :D

Lets get back to the diskos shall we :D, our photograph got featured in OBSESSIONSYNDROME. What is OBSESSIONSYNDROME? They are a group of e.d.m. enthusiasts, teaming up to create an online publication dedicated to everything related to the electronic dance music scene in KL. a picture worth RM200.
AH! Finally I got the wedding pictures from Afat :) Fyi :P this picture… this very picture costs me RM200 worth of trouble. Do you want to know how can a picture be worth RM200? I used my own lightstand for this shot, which I just purchased 3 days before the actual shoot. Just after this shot, the lightstand snapped into 2 pieces! I was devastated as heck terus hilang my mood to continue doing the outdoor shoot. Then I assisted Afat with the shoot AGAIN the lightstand snapped again into 3 pieces ( … ) Well, I got a replacement for it a few weeks ago THANKS UNCLE KEN! :D Lesson learned, dont fully extend your cheap lighstands mates! Leave it a fist width of gap in between so that the metal supports the stress rather than the plastic center :) One more thing I’ve learned, you dont need a powerful 500watts strobe head to penetrate the sun, just say NIKON AUTO FP FTW!

Ahhh! :D another fine weekend! this time Im following them guys to Itudio Studio in Kelana Mall :D Bibo was shooting for a friend and I was there to assist him in any way I could :D I TOTALLY DIG THE ELEVATOR SHOOT! :D One thing I’ve learned from following Bibo doing his shoots that he always ( always all the time ) use wireless flash with no diffuser what so ever, bare flash! I used to hate bare flash because of the harsh shadows and oily skins it gives out, so I used to find in any way possible to softened it up name it umbrella, softboxes, bounced off wall or ceiling etc etc but this one totally changed it all. He always utilized narrow beams of light by zooming so the light wont spill elsewhere and it gives that punchy fashion’ish lighting. See this is the kind of thing you wont get in a book, experience! Anyways, Itudio Studio was an awesome place to lepak and share common interests too ;) Now looking at Kelana Mall it starting to pull all sorts of crowds and young ladies too :P HEHE ( not pedo OKAY :p )

Meet DANGERDISKO, Me, Mdon and Saufi had a profile shoot for the band for their debut in a UK Magazine YEAH WE’RE GOING INTERNATIONAL BEBEH! :P This is considered as my first official band shoot, it means we’re getting paid for this too! :D I cant wait to get the copy to ourselves :P Be sure to check them out on Facebook and listen to their rad mixes!

Siege Unleashed.
The third Issue of SIEG Magazine is out! :D This time around I got my work in the magazine as well :) Its on the third page I got 7 pages out of it. and I think I did a pretty good job, could have done better though :( Anyways, Its an honor to get my work spread through these digital mediums. Thank you Eka, Amira for the opportunity and Bibo you did an awesome job as always :)
